Basketball is a game played between two teams in which five players from each team participate to win the game from their opponent team. It was first started by James Naismith (1861- 1939) at the international Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Training school where Naismith was an instructor in physical education. As the first players along with James Naismith were Canadians so that meant that Canada was the first country outside United States to introduce basketball. The game then was introduced in England in 1894, in Australia, China, and India, France in 1893 and in Japan in 1900. In the first game of basketball in 1891, Naismith used as goals two half-bushel peach baskets which actually gave the sport its name. Every team tried to score a goal for their team with the basket attached to the wall. The rules of basketball was published in the January 15, 1892.
