Introduction

Canada is prone to a wide range of natural disasters. These disasters fall into two main categories: geophysical disasters, such as avalanches, earthquakes, and landslides; and hydrometeorological disasters, such as hurricanes, floods, hailstorms, and tornadoes. Frequent occurrence and the high intensity of natural disasters can impose irreversible negative effects on people
