What is Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome?

Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome is a vascular disease which is a rare cause of exercise-induced lower leg pain. The entrapment occurs because of an abnormal relationship between the popliteal artery and the surrounding structures of the popliteal fossa. Compression of the artery restricts blood flow to the lower leg and ends up damaging the artery.
